تم الإعلان عن قائمة ترشيحات حفل The British Academy Games Awards، وللمفاجأة فإن لعبة Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice هي التي حصلت على أكبر عدد من الترشيحات مع 9 ترشيحات من بينها أفضل لعبة.
وتليها لعبة Horizon: Zero Dawn مع 8 ترشيحات و What Remains of Edith Finch مع 7 ولعبتي The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild و Gorogoa مع 5.
والبارز في هذا العام هو تقديم جائزة: أفضل لعبة تقدم ما وراء الترفيه، والتي تسعى إلى مكافأة الألعاب التي تقدم تجربة تتجاوز مسألة الترفيه فقط. وقد تم ترشيح الألعاب Bury Me, My Love و Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice و Last Day of June و Life Is Strange: Before the Storm و Night in the Woods و Sea Hero Quest VR على هذه الفئة وذلك لأنها تسلط الضوء على عدة مشاكل اجتماعية واقعية.
